Easy To Do Experiments That Your Children Will Love

Young curious minds are always full of questions asking why do these things happen and how does it do that. Here are some brilliant easy science experiments that will WOW your children's minds. 

Bubbling Potions 

This is a quick and easy way to make a bubbling potion with simple instructions.

What you need:

  • A small plastic cup
  • Vinegar
  • Food colouring
  • Dish soap
  • Baking soda


  • Fill the cup halfway with vinegar
  • Add five drops of food colouring
  • One small squirt of dish soap
  • Give it all a good mix together 
  • Add a tablespoon of baking soda this will then activate your bubbling potion.

Make sure that you use a tray or large mixing bowl as the bubbles can get very messy.

Lava In A Bottle 

This is another fun science experiment that is easy to do with no mess. It can teach your children about how different types of liquids work it is a long-lasting experiment that your children can enjoy looking at for ages.

What you need:

  • A clear 1-litre bottle 
  • 3/4 cups of water
  • Vegetable Oil
  • Alka Seltzer
  • Food colouring

What you need to do:

  • Pour all 3/4 cups of water into the bottle
  • Use a measuring jug that allows you to pour your Vegetable Oil into the bottle without spilling
  • Add 10 drops of food colouring that will stand out in the bottle
  • Take half of an Alka Seltzer and drop it into the bottle

Ounce the bubbly lava effect stops, add the other half of the Alka seltzer to enjoy again. You can also really brighten up your lava in a bottle by putting it in front of a lamp. 

How to make slime 

What child does not like slime. Slime is a great sensory feeling that is fun to play with, it's easy to make as it involves all the things that you would usually have in your household.

What you need:

  • 1/4 of water
  • 1/4 of white, child-friendly craft glue
  • 1/4 of liquid starch (used for clothing)
  • Food colouring if you have any
  • Big mixing bowl
  • Mixing spoon

What you need to do:

  • Pour glue into your big mixing bowl
  • Pour the water in with the glue and stir together 
  • Add 10 drops of food colouring, don't worry if you don't have any
  • Add liquid starch and mix in well
  • Your slime should then start to thicken the more you mix it

To keep the slime going for longer, keep it in an airproof zip bag. Make sure that the slime is kept away from soft furnishings and carpets.
